Atlanta Personal Fitness Trainer

Stephen is the owner of VIVA FITNESS and has been involved in the fitness industry for over 25 years, as a personal trainer in Atlanta since 1997.  His educational and training background includes a B.S. in Physical Education/Health from the College of Charleston, a B.A. in Health Education from the University of Kentucky, as well as a M.S. of Exercise Physiology from the University of Kentucky. Stephen holds both a personal training certification and group fitness instructor certification from the American Council on Exercise.

“My passion for training started when he was a freshman in college. I had just made the cheer squat and realized my strength and size as a skinny eighteen year old would not cut it on a college co-ed cheerleading squad.  Needless to say, I was clueless as to what to do when I first walked in the weight room.  To this day, I am forever grateful to my professors, and mentors in my chosen major of Physical Education and Health, for teaching me how to safely and correctly lift, how to condition my body correctly based on the goals I set for myself, and they always stressed that hard work, patients, and a willingness to make a few sacrifices, will yield the results I wanted to become a better college cheerleader.”

This passion is what Stephen brings when training his clients.  “Today I see many trainers do the same routine with every client hour on the hour.  The workout is written on a dry erase board, and the trainer sits back and watches the client do that day’s workout.”  Stephen is a personal trainer that puts the “personal” in personal training.  We are all different, so therefore, one’s workout should be catered to that individuals personal goals. This is something that is guaranteed through VIVA FITNESS Personal Training.

Stephen celebrates that he trains a diversity of individuals, and have been blessed to work with people from all walks of life, ranging in ages from 7 to 75.  He has also had the honor to work with young ladies who were not only working to improve their overall health and fitness, but were granted scholarships through competing in the Miss America and Miss USA systems. Some of them went on to receive fitness awards for their hard work, one crowned Miss America in 2016, and one client lost over 100 pounds, and was featured on the cover of People Magazine, and won the title of Miss SC 2011.
Stephen was also one of the 4 Nike Trainers selected in Atlanta, and has been a group fitness instructor at Coca-Cola, OTF, and corporations and fitness facilities in the Atlanta area.
